Canada regulates drug prices

Because Canada has a national health plan for all its citizens, the Canadian Government regulates the price of prescription drugs. Identical drugs often manufactured in the same factory can be priced substantially lower in Canada at Canadian retail pharmacies. Canadian drug manufacturing is licensed and monitored by the Canadian Health Protection Branch. Brand name drugs are usually made by the same manufacturer, and are the same in every respect, with few exceptions.
